Activist and art project by Sylwia Janasz and Jakub Szafranski conducted at the shelter for the homeless women at Bronowicka Street in Lublin, finalized in a discussion, attended by representatives of foundations helping the homeless, urban social welfare institutions and residents of the shelter.
Contacting people who have lost all their material possessions and who have fallen into the crisis of homelessness is shocking and difficult to describe because it opens up a space of fear for existence, human dignity, the right to self-determination about one's life. It allows you to face the fear of social exclusion, being marginalized, total abandonment, and loneliness with your problems. Entering into the relationship with this problem and the women experiencing it on a daily basis can be compared to initiation - the rite of entering another, higher level of initiation into the structure of our society. This level shows how deep is the crisis of human values that we eally function in. Approaching this topic and assimilating it in the consciousness of the city dwellers was the intention of this project because only at such a level can a change be made. - Sylwia Janasz
